Inspired by the old Software Wars map drawn up by an open source fanboy (in Gimp, and it shows) and its sequel. as well as by revealing comments made in the WebOS thread here. It reveals the curious mindset where it is imagined the software industry is essentially a war where everybody is fighting against Microsoft, where everybody has the same goal (which in freetard circles is the end of commercial proprietary software) — like the simplified story of World War II where everybody fought the Nazis. This does not explain the reality of the tech industry (or of World War II for that matter). Events like Apple teaming up with Microsoft to fight Android (because they both believe Android infringes on their intellectual property), or Apple licensing technology from Microsoft so the iPhone can inter-operate with Microsoft servers in corporate have no room in this cartoon view of reality.
