This Trademark accurately describes the fact that Freetards usually mistake hard reality for wishful thinking.
IWantToBelieve™ perfectly describes the state of mind of a Freetard who is claiming that next year is the YearOfLinuxDesktop™ and that soon the Linux Desktop market share will surpass all others (without giving any reasonable evidence or explanation as to why this will happen).

jaunty was terrible but IWantToBelieve™ that karmic will be better. karmic was terrible but IWantToBelieve™ that lucid will be better …
IWantToBelieve™ that Linux Standard Base will magically fix everything.
yes, yes because people repeating something year after year means without a shadow of a doubt that it will never happen…
Just because it has been falsely claimed in the past, doesn’t mean that Linux’s popularity, or rather, the popularity of open source OSs, won’t ever increase!
Time will tell :)
It’s almost been 20 years, Hoppi.
Thanks for the Ubuntu Forum traffic Hoppi.
@Grubby Ok, how many of those years have people had broadband? Even things like that make a huge difference, as it aids the collaboration.
Linux on the desktop is friendlier than ever before, and I personally believe it’s just a matter of time before open source operating systems either take over or make a serious dent in the market.
Also, if you look at the top distros of the last 5-10 years, it is looking much healthier these days IMO.
@Hoppi, you “personally believe”...did you even READ the title of the Trademark? What you’re saying is specifically why the trademark exists.
“Linux is making inroads”
“Only a matter of time”
“Linux = humanitarian efforts”
“Just around the corner”
You’re optimism is great, but its being directed at entirely the wrong thing! It doesn’t matter how healthy the distros are, the alternatives are still better!
IN YOUR OPINION.
I find KDE the best desktop I have ever used and the Linux kernel the best kernel I have ever used. I find bash the best prompt, GRUB the best boot loader, Qt4 the best toolkit etc etc. But it’s a personal thing I guess :)
Who cares! Its a stupid boot loader! The only reason you should care is if you wrote it yourself, but you didn’t.
I can’t believe some of the low level technologies users seem to want to be exposed to when using Linux. Do you think I know how Windows boots? Of course not, since it has no effect on the tasks I’m accomplishing with it! Its not that I’m ignorant, I just shouldn’t have to know that kind of crap.
(by the way, Qt is cross platform, so that’s moot)
@admin way to completely dodge my entire point :(
It’s amazing how subjective all of this is.
@Hoppi
So, I went to the bar one night and saw a pot calling a kettle black. Funny, huh?
